Connect Kerry Issue 29

Hi everyone, it’s time to get back to normal, school has resumed late nights playing in the garden are limited to weekends and in general we are all back to routine, but the fun and frolics haven’t stopped. The windy city of Chicago is home to our new Rose of Tralee congratulations Maggie McEldowney, so now it’s off to Listowel for the ever popular Harvest Racing Festival. It’s a tradition in Kerry now really, the summer is not officially over until you have spent a day at Listowel Races and brought Sam Maguire back to the Kingdom in September, so while we won’t be welcoming Sam Maguire we are really looking forward to Listowel with their new state of the art Stand amongst the attractions this year. As always the Mcelligotts Honda Ladies Day on Friday the 16th is another popular day in the events Calendar in Kerry so we are looking forward to that, and we have a chat here with Maura Derrane on her attending and judging best dressed.

We also catch up with Stylist Orla Diffily who is back for another season in RTE’s very popular Today Show in the afternoon, we are very proud to announce that Orla will be joining the Connect Contributors bringing us all the latest trends from Kerry Boutiques and Designers monthly.

We are also delighted to partner up with First Light, an organisation supporting parents and families who lose a child or young person suddenly and unexpectedly, regardless of age or circumstance. 40 years in service next year, they have identified that each year 130 parents, families and professionals in Kerry are affected by the sudden death of a child or young person and since January of this year the requests for their professional support services has increased by 63% on last year, so we in Connect are delighted to support their service.

We have a great wedding feature with lots of tips and ideas for those thinking of getting married, so we hope that if you are planning your big day you will get some ideas from this.

And of course as its September and we have all our extra money spent on the kids and school we have some lovely giveaways, a trip to the races with Lunch, or a luxurious Hair Care hamper. Be in to win….

So all in all there’s lots for you to catch up with, get the kids to school, boil the kettle and take a little time out with your cup of tea and your favourite monthly read, we all need a little me time…..

Until next month
