Welcome to our Christmas issue of Connect… shoppers are frantically trying to get the last few gifts they want, trollies are back to back in supermarkets, meeting up with old friends for Christmas cheer, it’s a lovely time of year.
We are delighted to chat to Brent Pope this month, Brent tells us about his life and his new found fashion and shoe label. Rose of Tralee Jennifer Byrne also stops by to tell us how her year has been so far.
We have lots of pictures from our Annual Ladies Lunch Fashion and Beauty Afternoon, thanks to all who came on the day and to the many businesses who supported us with our amazing spot prizes. It was wonderful to raise €1500 for Moyderwell Mercy Moyderwell School and we hope the younger members of our community will enjoy the technology that will come as a result of this.
Lots of gift ideas included this month so if you’re like me and leave everything until December don’t panic we have something for you.
We are taking a little break now to enjoy the festivities and normality will resume in January with our next issue on the shelves Feb 6th, keep an eye on our social media for lots of Christmas giveaways to get you in the festive mood.
In the meantime get that shopping finished, shop local and keep our county moving. I would ask you all this year to make the effort to ‘stroll not scroll’ and support our local shops instead of scrolling through online shopping. Don’t forget to say thank you to all our wonderful retailers and their staff , who always do their best to look after us in our daily shopping trips. There is no extra charge for being nice!!!
Christmas is not for everyone so spare a thought for those around you that may be alone or not getting the Christmas spirit as you are. Visit your elderly relatives and take some time out to sit and chat, it doesn’t have to be all about the biggest present under the tree it’s who is around the tree that matters most… we have all lost loved ones since this time last year, remember time is precious so share it with family this season and say a silent prayer for those not with us to celebrate the festive occasion that is Christmas.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to connecting you with the county in 2018. Merry Christmas.
