TRIBESMAN SHANE MCHUGH IS ANNOUNCED AS THE 2022 BENETTI MENSWEAR ROSE ESCORT OF THE YEAR
Dáithí Ó Sé announced the result live on RTÉ One during the first night of the Rose of Tralee TV Show in the Kerry Sports Academy.
Shane who is paired with Ohio Rose, Sarah McInerney is a Policy Specialist working in Financial Regulation and is studying toward qualifying as a Barrister at the Honorable Society of King’s Inns. He hails from a Family Beef Farm just off the N17 in Tuam, Co. Galway, is a staunch Galwegian and is proud to be representing the maroon and white. Shane is committed to giving back to his community and has volunteered for Hospice and St. Vincent de Paul and when not losing money at the Galway Races, Shane can be found either on a tennis court attempting in vain to give Roger Federer a run for his money or on a dancefloor, jiving to the best of Irish and American Country Music.
Shane McHugh said he has enjoyed every moment of this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival: “The entire experience, from the first day in Ashdown Park in April, right up until today, I’ve enjoyed every single second of it. We were promised a unique experience, and it’s been more than delivered on.

“I’m in shock following the announcement, I didn’t see it coming. Out of the group of 33 Rose Escorts, I think every one of us is qualified for the role of Escort of the Year and I’ll do my best to represent this fine group of lads.”
The 33 Benetti Menswear Rose Escorts 2022 have been gifted with exquisite attire from the Benetti Menswear brand for the Live TV Shows. In addition, Shane will receive a prize valued at €2,000 from Benetti Menswear.

More than 200 men aged between 21 and 31 applied to become Rose Escorts at this year’s Rose of Tralee International Festival and following a detailed interview process, the final 33 were selected to take part in a Boot Camp weekend in Kerry to help them prepare for a busy week at the Festival.
