It’s all about community drama at St John’s Theatre Listowel this month, with two local groups, the Tarbert Theatre Players and Listowel’s St John’s Theatre Group, making their very welcome return to the stage.
The Tarbert Theatre Players present Brian Friel’s ‘Faith Healer’ for three nights from 19th November. Frank Hardy, played by Gerry O’Connor travels through remote country offering his unique cure to the most hopeless of people. In this haunting exploration of the power of belief and faith, the play exposes the absurd as narrated retrospectively by Noelle McGibney playing wife Gracie and Shane Wall playing his manager, Teddy.
St John’s Theatre Group brings us John B Keane’s classic comedy, Moll, with Frances Kennedy playing the protagonist as the priest’s resourceful new housekeeper. Batt O’Keeffe plays the Canon, while Johnny Corkery is the reluctant curate in charge of bingo. Moll runs from Thursday 25th November for five nights.
Emma Langford, the Limerick artist, renowned for her beautiful take on Irish folk music appears in St Johns with her band, on November 11th as part of her Ireland Winter Tour 2021.
Renowned Irish Pianist Finghín Collins takes to the road on a major 17-concert recital of Ireland and will perform in St John’s Theatre on Wednesday 24th November.
