Celebrating Ireland’s Nature at Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Centre

A new booklet and nature trail at Tralee Bay Wetlands has just launched, encouraging young and old alike to take some time to explore the wildlife that can be found all around us.
Many of Ireland’s native species are in decline so to help engage the local community with the species that can be found locally, Tralee Bay Wetlands has developed a wildlife booklet and nature trail to guide people through the wildlife on the grounds of the wetlands.
The booklet is A5 in size and includes 14 species found around the Wetlands which play a role in the ecosystem and have also featured in Irish heritage.
The booklet is available free of charge from the wetlands and copies will be made available throughout the county’s libraries.
Manager of the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre, Mary O’Connor said: “We wish to thank Philip Mc Sweeny of River Dog Studios who created the trail and the designs and Thomas Canavan, Ecologist at Tralee Bay Wetlands who wrote the book and Kieran Galwey who designed it.
“We are so grateful to Eleanor Turner, Biodiversity Officer with Kerry County Council and the National Parks and Wildlife Service for having this lovely production printed and we know it will help everyone to enjoy and engage with nature and our heritage a little more,” said Mary.
The project is supported by the National Parks & Wildlife Service under the National Biodiversity Action plan (2017-2021).
