For the perfect Bridal Hair – Hairworks makes the Dream work!

To tie in with our Spring Wedding edition, I wanted to bring you some expert advice on prepping your hair to be Wedding Day ready. For this, I visited one of Kerry’s most sought after Bridal Hair specialists, Joanne Lynch in Hairworks based in Tralee. I knew when it came to getting all of the tips necessary to achieve the perfect bridal hair, Joanne was the one to go to!  I also put a few questions to Joanne on the importance of prepping your hair, the do’s and don’ts

Joanne, what tips would you say are the most important in the lead up to the big day?
Brides should be booking their colour appointment to have it done up to 2 weeks before the day. This is because most people find their colour settles nicer after 1 or 2 washes especially blondes with toner.

What would you advise someone who is thinking of making a major colour change for their wedding?
I would say if you are thinking of changing your colour for the big day, here at Hairworks we recommend you start the process at least 6 months beforehand as big colour changes need to be done gradually and if the bride in question doesn’t like the new colour, it gives time to correct it.

On the morning itself, what should brides be doing in terms of washing their hair etc?

1. For normal to dry hair wash hair the day before wedding day, washing the hair and scalp well with two shampoos and a tiny amount of conditioner on ends only.
2. For oily hair shampoo on the morning and use no conditioner.
3. If hair and makeup is being done at the house ensure you have enough space for both hairstylist and makeup artist, sufficient lighting is also necessary stylist will also bring along their own ring light.
4. Personal preperation that bridesmaids require in their role for wedding prep on the morning ie showering, gathering hair accessories etc it’s important to ensure they have this done so before it’s time to start their hair. This prevents delays which makes for a more efficient stress-free morning.

What service do you at Hairworks offer Brides for their wedding day?
We have two really well tailored options for your wedding day to best suit you! The first one is;

Option 1- Brides can come along to the salon with their bridal party the morning of the wedding, we will book out the salon for the morning just for ye so ye can come in your pyjamas to feel at home, we will provide some Prosecco and nibbles to set ye up for the day, photography and videographer are more than welcome to pop in.

Option 2- our team of makeup artist and hair stylist will go to your home, hotel or venue if your choice. We will arrange when booking what time we will arrive, we will also stay with you until you are leaving for any touch ups needed!
