Kerry photographers honoured in world’s largest free photo award to be celebrated at Dublin exhibition

There’s big news for Kerry this week as two local photographers have been honoured in the world’s largest free photography competition, the CEWE Photo Award, both placing in the Top 1000 entries worldwide.

From Ballybunion, David Morrison was recognised for two standout images: “Ballybunion Dippers take on a Wave”, showing the local swimmers who kept each other going through lockdown, and “Like a Pea in a Pod”, a magical shot of a lone swimmer alongside dolphins.

From Dingle, Ferg Flannery earned his accolade with “Setting Sail”, a striking image taken in Málaga that captures atmosphere and movement with dramatic effect.

Both photographers’ achievements will be celebrated at a free exhibition in Dublin’s Chocolate Factory on 12 and 13 September. The event, hosted in partnership between CEWE and Irish band Picture This, will bring together the band’s fan photo shortlist alongside a showcase of Irish CEWE Photo Award entries, including David’s and Ferg’s.

Visitors can attend free and also take part in the #PictureThismas competition with a chance to win meet and greet tickets for Picture This’s sold out 3Arena Christmas shows.
