On Friday April 28th Minister for Education, Norma Foley visited Kiltallagh National School, a beautiful warm and welcoming two-teacher primary school, nestled in the heart of Castlemaine village, home of the wild Colonial Boy. From their Teacher Artist Partnership, a unique Department of Education and Skills Initiative for supporting Arts in Education, to gardening, to being one of only five schools in Kerry to perform with the Cross Border Orchestra of Ireland in Peace Proms 2023 in the University of Limerick, to securing a Schools Excellence Fund to engage in a collaborative creative cluster of schools, to working with an Artist in Residence, a specialist PE Teacher and the Marine Institute of Ireland, Kiltallagh certainly is a vibrant hive of educational activity where the students are clearly happy and thriving with the nurturing support of their exceptional school staff and school community.

Minister Foley, clearly impressed by this hidden gem of a little school and overwhelmed by the warmth of the reception she received, departed, following her visit with a smile on her face, her heart uplifted and with beautiful memories to cherish of a truly special afternoon with the inspirational children, staff and community of Kiltallagh National School Castlemaine.
