Out this Christmas!

With the way of the world this last eighteen months or so, I think we are all looking forward to Christmas more than ever! Let’s go all out glam and I for one am thoroughly excited about it. This month’s column has you covered! Let’s ditch our beloved loungewear and slippers for heels and festive party dresses.

Time to Sparkle!

Let’s start with the most obvious – sequins! Choosing sequins over the festive period is always a fail-safe. Sequins can be as bold or as chic as you like, choose a colour palette that works for you and that compliments your favourite most worn accessories. Dresses, jumpsuits, skirts or maybe just a little sequin bag – you won’t regret adding some sparkle! This beautiful sequin dress is from Goose Boutique in Tralee. It’s a Theia dress by Don O’Neill, available for a fraction of the retail price.

I love a good girly lunch at Christmas, so you need an outfit that transitions from day to night. My go to, is my pair of Commando Faux leather leggings, a cute blouse and a black blazer. Team them with a comfortable pair of black ankle boots like these Kate Appleby boots from the Shoe Rack, Tralee. I also love this little black bag from Mango, which is now open at Shaws in Tralee. Definitely check it out, with weekly deliveries, they are sure to have something that catches your eye.

Finishing Touches

Maybe you haven’t the time or the budget for a whole new outfit. Then your answer is accessories! Accessories can really update and elevate any outfit. At this time of year, more is more!! Think bling cocktail rings, shoulder skimming earrings, layering necklaces or indeed a beautiful statement necklace! Zara always have such gorgeous affordable pieces, often
with a vintage feel. TK Maxx, Carraig Donn and The Kilkenny Shop are also great for accessories.

A beautifully fitted, little black dress can last a lifetime, especially if you find that piece that feels like a true style investment and your ‘go to’ look. Opt for chic and a classic silhouette, to ensure longevity and a base that lends itself to multiple occasions. Again, dress it up with some accessories and a beautiful faux fur teddy coat to get in the festive spirit. This one from Macbee’s, Killarney is absolutely divine!

Remember, looking and feeling stylish doesn’t have to cost a fortune. Investing in one or two new pieces, will really update your look. Stay true to your style and pick items that will integrate well and work hard in your wardrobe.
