Real Weddings Real People – Lisa Brennan & Danny Fiske

After postponing twice due to Covid 19, we were so happy to finally get married on our third date, June 24th 2021.

Our ceremony took place in St. Brendan’s Church, Ardfert, and we had our reception at Ballyroe Heights Hotel with 25 guests. We had the most perfect day!

Planning a wedding from the UK was never going to be easy, but all of our suppliers and vendors were fantastic to deal with. I had always dreamt of getting married at home in Kerry, and Danny loves the Kingdom too, so getting married in Ireland was a no-brainer.

Changing our wedding plans dramatically, not once but twice, was definitely stressful but Patrick, Mike and the team at Ballyroe Heights Hotel could not have been more accommodating. Nothing was an issue and they reassured us every step up the way.

Our photographer Ciara O’ Donnell from Ballyheigue was incredible. She had such a calm, organised presence and we couldn’t recommend her highly enough.

Maura’s Cottage Flowers produced the most beautiful flowers we have ever seen; from bouquets to table pieces – we loved everything!

Mario Vaitkus was our videographer and he was lots of fun to have around. He is extremely talented and is also a well-established photographer. We have just received the finished videos this week and were so impressed with the finished product.

Maeve Carey (Make up by Maeve) is a brilliant make up artist and made the bridal party feel gorgeous alongside hairdresser Noelle Casey (Vogue, Tralee). My hair and makeup stayed perfect all day long, as did my bridesmaids’ in spite of the elements!

Our church music was simply stunning by Noelle Barrett-Neziri, Noel McAuliffe and Leonard Casey. Noelle is a very good family friend so it was very special having her impress our guests with her beautiful voice.

Our cake was made by a good friend, Lorraine Counihan who was unfortunately unable to make the day due to restrictions and a very small guest list. We bought our rings about 18 months ago from a shop in Norwich where we live.

The staff at Finesse bridal shop in Listowel were so lovely and helpful to deal with when we started shopping for a wedding dress, but I found ‘the one’ in Aibheil of Adare.

All of our vendors were so professional and made us feel very special and went that extra mile to make our day happen finally!

We really had the most relaxed, magical day and we wish we could turn back time and live it all over again!

Although Covid-19 did force us to make some difficult decisions, we would 100% encourage couples to go ahead with their special day, no matter what the numbers are. Looking back, we loved having a small wedding. It was so intimate, stress-free and we had so much fun.
