YOU DONT NEED A NEW YOU

January – it may be a new year but you certainly don’t need a “New You’
Making drastic changes and expecting to change overnight is where most people go wrong when partaking in a fat loss journey. Instead – Think small attainable steps and goals that will get you to your final goal. Change one or two little things at a time to establish a new routine or norm. Yes you won’t see the results over night but you will and they will last. Be proud of You – you are the one who is committing to change- to a healthy, fit , new lifestyle.

Here are some tips to get you on your way.

 

• DO IT NOW – don’t put it off any longer
• Small Steps – start by cutting down considerably on junk food. Save your self a treat at the weekends. A take away , glass of wine or whatever you like. Remember- 80/ 20 rule. Eat good nutritious food 80% of the time and relax and enjoy a treat 20% of the time
• Move More – get in a minimum of 10000 steps per day. Remember EAT LESS – MOVE MORE to loose weight you need to be in a calorie deficit. Get a personal trainer or nutritionist to work this out for you if you aren’t sure.
• Take up some form of strength/resistance training.
• Join a group or class or do it with a friend. Motivation is infectious.
• Have realistic short term goals
• Be prepared. Dont leave it until the last minute when grocery shopping. Prepare your meals or plan them in advance
• Make a shopping list and stict to it
• Where possible avoid processed food. But if you need to use them be vigilant of the sugar content- aim for no more than 8g per 100g. There is a huge difference in sugar content between jars of the same sauce. You will find the sugar content under Carbohydrate-(of which are sugars)
• Avoid buying – sweets, cakes , biscuits etc- instead plan your treats and organise these.
• Plenty of fresh fruit and vegetables- bulk up your meals with low calorie veg.
• Drink water – 2 L per day
• Sleep – aim for a min of 7 – 8 hours per night .
