Culture Night Open Call Join the All Island Annual Celebration of Irish Culture Culture Night 2024 Returns Friday September 20th
Today, Wednesday, 1st May, Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir organisers launch an ‘Open Call’, inviting organisations and individuals interested in participating to log onto culturenight.ie/get-involved/ and share their ‘Expressions of Interest’ with their Local Authority Arts Office. Culture Night is the annual all-island celebration of culture in Ireland and returns this year on Friday 20th September.
Across the island of Ireland, Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is the one night each September for us all to show up for a collective experience of discovery and exploration in the rich and diverse variety of culture, creativity and the arts. From village to town to city and coast to coast, Culture Night celebrates the growing eclectic diversity of arts, culture and creativity right across the country. In 2023, 1.2 million people joined in.
This all-island cultural celebration couldn’t happen without the commitment and dedication of thousands of people, organisations, venues and institutions who create thousands of events for us all to enjoy – from artists and performing groups to craft workers, studios and workshops; from galleries, museums and theatres to schools, sports clubs and libraries; arts centres, local authorities and community groups to government departments, state agencies, hospitals, public bodies, transport companies, universities and many more.
All participants must be registered through their relevant arts office/local authority and their event details uploaded to the national programme/website. Participation is through your local arts office which oversees the organisation of the programme of events in each city and county. Full registration details are available on www.culturenight.ie.
Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir is brought to you by the Arts Council, in partnership with local authorities and cultural organisations throughout the island of Ireland and thanks to their continued support all activities are FREE.
Culture Night / Oíche Chultúir truly is One Night for All people, places and art forms that make up all that our culture is today. At its core, Culture Night respects, supports and ensures the inclusion of all the diverse voices and cultures that make up Ireland today, from all sections of society and from all social backgrounds, abilities, ethnicities and traditions. Culture Night Programmers are particularly interested in cultural events and activities that are curated by and for youth (18 to 24) audiences and which promote diversity and inclusion through the celebration of cultural diversity, both new and established and those that seek to create opportunities for participation with those who may not always have easy access to cultural events. This includes actively promoting Ireland’s vibrant night-time cultural life and events which begin after 9 pm are particularly welcome.
